NAIROBI (Reuter) - Kenya's High Court suspended the nominations of nine candidates from Kenya's ruling Kanu party yesterday after opposition parties alleged foul play before next week's historic general elections.
The ruling temporarily stopped the automatic election of nine Kanu parliamentary candidates who were declared unopposed in Kenya's first multi-party polls for 26 years. Opposition parties alleged that their candidates were prevented by Kanu thugs from handing in nomination papers.
