Three leading Kenyans appeared before the International Criminal Court in The Hague yesterday for a hearing to establish if there is a strong enough case to try them over post-election violence in 2007-08.

The Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, Cabinet Secretary Francis Muthaura and former police commissioner Mohammed Hussein Ali face accusations of murder, rape and crimes against humanity for violence against opposition supporters.
