A new distress signal from the Mediterranean sea has been received by the International Organisation for Migration.

The caller told the IOM's Rome office that three boats carrying 300 people were in need of immediate help, according to the Associated Press.

He reported that there have already been 20 fatalities, and said that the boat is sinking.
