Mongolia's democratic coalition claimed victory in the country's first direct presidential elections, defeating the ex-communist party which ruled for 70 years, Reuter reports from Ulan Bator.
Early results show Punsalmaagiyn Ochirbat, the incumbent President, winning just over 58 per cent of the vote. His challenger, Lodongiyn Tudev, polled about 38 per cent.
