ANKARA (AFP) - Turkey's paramilitary police commander and negotiator with Iraqi Kurds, General Esref Bitlis, and four senior officers were killed yesterday when their military aircraft crashed in Ankara. Gen Bitlis was responsible largely for the paramilitary police's work in south-east Turkey, where rebels of the Kurdistan Workers' Party have been fighting security forces since 1984.
