Arles (Reuter) - Jeanne Calment, believed to be the world's oldest citizen, celebrated her 118th birthday in an old people's home in Arles, southern France. Ms Calment, who knew Vincent van Gogh in her youth (he lived in Arles in 1888-89) gave up smoking last year and no longer drinks her daily glass of port. She is deaf but her memory is still vivid.
