A new political group, the Italian Democratic Monarchist Party, announced its formation yesterday, pledging to return Italy to a monarchy nearly 50 years after it became a republic, AFP reports from Bari. The party's national executive said in a statement that it would take part in legislative elections due this year, and would work towards the election of a monarchist president by the people.
