The Swiss have always had a reputation for impeccable timing and engineering.
These were the familiar hallmarks reiterated yesterday when pilots from the Swiss Air Force formation team turned out as a warm-up act for the Swiss Open tennis final. They kept the crowds entertained with a series of breath-taking manoevres in PC-7 propellor aircraft.
Most members of the formation flying team are selected after flying F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets in defence of Swiss air space.
And while the moon might have been an unexpectedly picturesque addition to the formations, the result of the tennis had a familiar ring to it this summer with yet another sporting Spaniard claiming victory, as Nicolas Almagro beat France's Richard Gasquet 7-5, 6-1.
