The outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) yesterday denied responsibility for a suicide bomb attack in Istanbul that wounded 32 people. The group said it was extending a ceasefire until Turkey's general elections in 2011.
"It is not possible for us to carry out such an action at a time when our movement has decided to extend a truce process," the PKK said.
Officials had said that the PKK was the most likely suspect for the attack in Taksim Square, a busy transport hub usually packed with foreign tourists and shoppers.
