The Japanese Prime Minister, Morihiro Hosikawa, is basking in recordpublic esteem as he faces a crucial period of his short rule, Reuter reports from Tokyo. The poll, carried out by the daily Yomiuri Shimbun, showed support for his cabinet at 73.5 per cent, a new high since polling began in Japan after the Second World War.
