Masked youths throwing stones at police in Madrid after a student demonstration that was part of a national day of protest against government education and economic policies degenerated into rioting on the streets of the Spanish capital. Two policemen were injured in clashes during which shop windows and traffic lights were smashed. Nine people were arrested.
