Russian Elections: Yeltsin meets Secretary-General of Nato

BRUSSELS - Boris Yeltsin yesterday met Manfred Worner, the Secretary-General of Nato, and the two men laid the groundwork for a military partnership. Russia has indicated that it might be interested in entering the alliance's new Partnership for Peace scheme, possibly involving some military exercises and joint training, writes Andrew Marshall. Mr Yeltsin also signed a declaration with European Union leaders, laying the basis for a trade and partnership agreement.
