Prague (Reuter) - The Czech and Slovak republics began using separate currencies yesterday, just 38 days after the Czechoslovak federation split into separate Czech and Slovak states which agreed to maintain the Czechoslovak crown as their common currency for an unspecified period. Both currencies are still called the crown and began at parity, though economists say it is only a matter of time before the Slovak crown is devalued.
