Milan police have arrested six people on suspicion of kidnapping and shooting a crime boss's ex-girlfriend last November and dissolving her body in acid.
Carabinieri Colonel Lorenzo Falferi says that police do not know which of the suspects shot Lea Garofalo, 35. Carlo Cosco, a reputed 'Ndrangheta crime boss and Ms Garofalo's former boyfriend, was among those arrested. Ms Garofalo was last seen getting into Mr Cosco's car in Milan.
Two years earlier she had refused police escorts after collaborating with prosecutors. Her body has not been found.
