Europe's tallest volcano erupted on Saturday blasting smoke into the air and spewing hot lava.
Mount Etna, on the Italian island of Sicily, is in almost constant activity, although the last major eruption was in 1992.
Despite the spectacular images, the blast did not require any mountain villages to be evacuated. Airspace over Sicily was briefly closed on Saturday morning, according to Catania airport.
