At least 20 people, most believed to be school children, were killed and some 30 others were injured when a bus collided with a truck close to the north central city of Soria, Spanish national radio reported.

The identities of the victims were not immediately known but a spokesman for Soria's firefighting department said it appeared the bus was carrying school-age children on an excursion from Barcelona.

The bus overturned after colliding with the truck which was reported to be carrying pigs, news reports said. The accident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. (1400 gmt) near the town of Golmayo, some 150 miles northeast of Madrid.
