The actor George Clooney and Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo were named yesterday among more than 200 witnesses in the trial of the former premier Silvio Berlusconi for allegedly paying for sex with an underage prostitute.

Clooney told Time magazine he was willing to testify for the defence, but added: "I wasn't at the bunga bunga party."
