STOCKHOLM (AP) - After years of raising Cold War alarms about mysterious underwater intruders, the navy has finally found a foreign submarine in Swedish waters. But it is a wreck from decades ago.
Commander Bjorn Borg said yesterday that remote-controlled photos showed the submarine on the sea bottom near the Baltic island of Gotska Sandon. He said the submarine was believed to be German, British or Soviet from the First or Second World War. Sweden has long complained that foreign submarines violate Swedish waters.
