Nicosia - Government and rebel leaders of the former Soviet republic of Tajikistan signed an agreement in Tehran yesterday to stop fighting by 5 November. The official Iranian news agency said the temporary ceasefire would go into effect after the deployment of a 'UN control mechanism' on the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan. Reuter
