Rwanda's government and the rebel army it has fought for 34 months signed a peace treaty yesterday and promised to struggle to overcome the hatreds of civil war, Reuter reports from Arusha, Tanzania. To the cheers of Rwandan delegates and officials from African and Western powers, President Juvenal Habyarimana and the Rwanda Patriotic Front's political chairman, Alex Kanyarengwe, signed the formal peace agreement.
