Three held after Longford petrol bomb attack
Three men remained in garda custody today after a petrol bomb attack in which an 11-year-old girl was badly burned.
The girl was injured when a number of men set fire to a house on an estate in Longford town at about midnight yesterday.
A Garda spokesman said four other people, all believed to be in their 20s, were in the house in Padraic Colum Heights when the arsonists struck.
Gardai said two 21-year-old men were still being questioned at Longford Garda Station while a third man, aged in his 20s, was being detained at Roscommon.
All were arrested yesterday.
The injured girl was taken to Mullingar Hospital and later transferred to the burns unit at Crumlin Children's Hospital in Dublin.
Her injuries are not life-threatening.
The house was badly damaged in the petrol bomb attack, which was believed to be linked to a feud between families.
Garda detectives have appealed for anyone with information on the attack to contact them.
