The former Nazi collaborator Paul Touvier appeared in court yesterday to disprove a report he had fled France to avoid trial for crimes against humanity, Reuter reports from Paris. The court is to rule on 7 July whether Touvier, the Lyons militia chief during the wartime Vichy regime, should be detained pending trial or obliged to report regularly to police.
