Twelve farm labourers have died and two are injured after their van was hit by a train on a level crossing in south-eastern Spain.

Twelve farm labourers have died and two are injured after their van was hit by a train on a level crossing in south-eastern Spain.

The van was dragged 200 yards and local agencies said bodies were strewn along the side of the track in the town of Lorca.

Police said the crossing was clearly marked. Several train passengers were injured.

The dead were all labourers from Equador.
