UN sacks Aideed's clanswomen

MOGADISHU (Reuter) - The UN yesterday sacked three Somali women who worked as translators in the United States and Somalia. The women belong to the same clan as the missing warlord, Mohammed Farah Aideed. The UN said they were responsible for security lapses which put US soldiers' lives at risk. The women - two of them US citizens and one a US resident - were said to have used profane language and one of them was said to have attended a pro-Aideed rally. Another was accused of passing information to Aideed's followers, who nightly attack the UN compound where the women work. The women have in turn accused the UN of racism against the Habr Gadir clan.
