ROME (Reuter) - The Vatican described as 'grotesque' the insemination of a 62-year-old Sicilian widow with the sperm of her dead husband. 'It makes me shudder to think of it,' said Elio Sgreccia, secretary of the Vatican Council for the Family.
'It is horrible and grotesque,' he said, adding that the Catholic Church opposed artificial procreation. The woman, whose husband died 10 years ago, became pregnant in August.
