AMSTERDAM (Reuter) - Cardinal Ad Simonis, head of the Dutch Roman Catholic church, distanced himself from remarks by a senior Vatican official, Elio Sgreccia, Secretary of the Vatican Council for the Family, comparing a new Dutch euthanasia law to Hitler's mass killings. Cardinal Simonis said the comments were 'unfortunate and betrayed a poor understanding of the law'.
