Young Bush's path cleared
TALLAHASSEE - The way was cleared yesterday for Jeb Bush, son of the former president George Bush, to run against Lawton Chiles, the incumbent, for the governorship of Florida, after his last Republican opponent announced that he would withdraw from the race.
Jim Smith was defeated by 'Jeb' Bush in last week's Republican primary and said yesterday he would not take part in a runoff. Reuter
