Potash miners in eastern Germany on a hunger strike to save their pit from closure rejected an offer by Thuringia state to guaranteee 700 permanent jobs and pledged to keep fighting, Reuter reports from Bischofferode. Some miners have been fasting for 18 days and five were taken to hospital suffering circulatory problems.
