Flat Earth: A short cat's tale

I think I know why I'm telling you this. But certainly, since the world's news agencies, including Reuter and AFP, fought and bit to be the first to transmit the news around the world, it should appear in print.

Last month, on the southern Japanese island of Shikoku, a farmer's shed was destroyed by fire. Subsequently the skeletons of two kittens and a package of quicklime were found in the ashes. A police spokesman said that lime was inflammable when wet, and fire had broken out when the cats urinated ('peed' in the racier AFP version) on the bag of lime. So there you are: if any reader feels they must simultaneously own a kitten and a bag of lime, please store them separately.
