You would think that, with 125 potential jurors to choose from, the lawyers involved in a personal injury suit in a New York court would avoid selecting Rudy Guiliani.

But even Hizzoner cannot escape the strict jury duty rules recently introduced by the city. And as the first juror chosen, he automatically becomes jury foreman. The mayor, himself a former litigator, will not be giving up his $165,000 (pounds 103,000) salary but will turn over his $40-a-day fee to the city.
