PEKING (AFP) - China's Communist authorities have thrown their full support behind once- taboo mixed marriages with foreigners, with an article in the People's Daily introducing an officially sanctioned matchmaking service. The 'Divine Land Computer Matchmaking Service' opened a month ago in the southern city of Guangzhou and specialises in introducing Chinese singles to foreigners.

Ten men and 196 women seeking mates abroad have registered with the firm, which has links with dating services in several countries.
