Swollen rivers began receding in southern France as rescue workers in the Camargue region of the Rhone delta intensified efforts to protect fields from flooding, AFP reports from Paris. In the region, which the Prime Minister, Edouard Balladur, was touring by helicopter yesterday afternoon, 700 people worked tirelessly to combat the flooding.
