PARIS - France detained a Muslim imam, an Algerian from Annonay, yesterday in its crackdown on alleged Islamic fundamentalists, officials said. The preacher, found with fundamentalist literature in his car, was the 17th Muslim seized since Friday. France has been getting tough with alleged fundamentalists since five people at the French embassy in Algiers were killed on Wednesday in a guerrilla attack. Reuter
