General retires

WASHINGTON (AP) - Major General Harold Campbell, who publicly disparaged President Clinton in the Netherlands last month as a 'pot-smoking, womanising, gay- loving and draft-dodging' commander-in-chief, will not be court-martialled. Instead, he will retire on 1 July, pay a fine and accept a letter of reprimand for violating the military justice code, which bars 'contemptuous words against the president'.
