HARARE (Reuter) - Zimbabwe's parliament has said that a white doctor admitted carrying out illegal anaesthetic experiments in pain control on 500 patients, three of whom died. A parliamentary committee said Richard McGowan told it he had 'undertaken experiments without following laid-down procedures to discover new ways of managing pain'. Dr McGowan was particularly interested in experiments on black women, the committee said in a report presented to parliament. The panel was investigating allegations against Dr McGowan of 'negligence, gross incompetence and disgraceful conduct'.
