The head of Greek state television, Dimitris Katsimis, was sacked after the Prime Minister, Andreas Papandreou, criticised coverage of the funeral of his former economy minister, Reuter reports from Athens. Mr Papandreou said he wanted heads to roll after the ET-1 channel failed to head the main evening newscast with the funeral on Tuesday of the National Economy Minister, Georgios Yennimatas. The coverage came in the middle of the newscast. Mr Papandreou said ET-1 had 'failed to stay in touch with the feeling of the Greek people', and ordered a 'strict inquest', complete with the names of those responsible.
