Head of Mormon Church dies
New York - The Mormon Church was mourning the loss of its president, Howard Hunter, who died at 87 after nine months in office, writes David Usborne.
The first Mormon leader born this century, his tenure was the shortest in the Church's history. Mr Hunter is almost certain to be replaced by Gordon Hinkley, 84, the "senior apostle" in the Church's leadership hierarchy.
