A hijacker holding three crew members of a KLM airliner hostage in Dusseldorf is an Egyptian demanding the release of Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman, the cleric suspected of instigating the bombing of the World Trade Center in New York, AFP reports from Dusseldorf.

Police said the hijacker of the Boeing 737-400, who has threatened to blow up the plane, demanded to be flown to New York. He released the 142 passengers, but kept three crew members.
