The Roman Catholic archbishop of Paris has angered France's police by asking the Vatican to beatify the guillotined murderer of a policeman, Reuter reports from Paris. Archbishop Jean-Marie Lustiger was quoted yesterday as saying beatification of Jacques Fesch, who converted to Catholicism and became a mystic while in prison, would give hope to those who felt their lives had been hopelessly wasted.
