In Brief: Friendly fire 'scapegoat'
Friendly fire 'scapegoat'
Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma - US Air Force Captain Jim Wang missed chances to save 26 people killed in a friendly-fire accident in northern Iraq last year and should be found guilty of criminal charges, a prosecutor said. Capt Wang is accused of failing to warn two Air Force fighters that mistakenly shot down two US Army helicopters in the northern Iraq no-fly zone on 14 April 1994. Capt Wang has previously claimed that he is a scapegoat for the downing and questioned why the F-15 fighter pilots who misidentified the helicopters were not court-martialled. Reuter
