A photograph of the Chinese Prime Minister, Li Peng (below), at a popular beach resort was released by China's official news agency yesterday, nearly two months after his last public appearance, AP reports from Peking.

Mr Li's prolonged absence from public view prompted speculation that the reported heart attack he suffered in April had prevented him from resuming his duties.
