An Indonesian court yesterday passed a four-year jail sentence on a university student convicted of insulting President Suharto, despite the long-serving leader's call for a more open society, Reuter reports from Jakarta. Nuku Soleiman was the first of 22 students arrested in December to be tried and sentenced under a law dating back to Dutch colonial rule.
