The Iranian authorities banned the publication of Jahan-e-Islam, a newspaper generally opposed to the government of President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, writes Safa Haeri.

The paper is edited by Hadi Khamenei, a brother of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the country's Islamic leader. According to Salam, another opposition newspaper, Jahan-e-Islam probably angered the President with its publication of an interview with Ali Akbar Mohtashemi, a Rafsanjani critic.
