SUDANESE opposition accused Iran of using Iraqi MIG23 fighters to boost Sudanese airforce , writes Adel Darwish.

The accusation was made by General Abdul Rahman Said, former chief of satff of the Sudan army and a leading figure in Legitimate Leadership opposition in an interview published yesterday in Al-Hayat. Claiming that he supplied Cairo with evidence that Iran refitted Iraqi MIG-23 fighters planes, escaped to Iran during 1991 allied air strike, to be used by Sudan airforce aginst the sepratists Southern rebels.

Another Saudi daily, Asharq al- Awsat said the General was responding to the Iranian charge de affairs in Cairo who Sunday denyied the existance of ' an agreement Between Baghdad, KHratoum and Iran for the temproray use by Sudan of Iraqi planes.'
