KUWAIT - The Israeli President, Ezer Weizman, was yesterday quoted as telling a Kuwaiti newspaper that Israel would welcome a visit by the Syrian President, Hafez al-Assad. 'Israel wishes to see (Assad) soon in Israel seeking peace,' the Arab Times daily and its sister publication al-Seyasah quoted Mr Weizman as saying. It was the first interview given by an Israeli official to a Kuwaiti newspaper. Reuter
