Tel Aviv - Haim Bar-Lev, an Israeli war hero, died in a Tel Aviv hospital yesterday. Bar- Lev, 69, fought in Israel's independence war in 1948 and was deputy chief of staff in the 1967 Middle East war. During his term as army chief from 1968 to 1971, he built a defensive line at the Suez Canal known as the Bar-Lev line. Reuter
