Tokyo - Japan lost one of its best-known politicians yesterday, a man whose sharp tongue gained him supporters at home but angry protests overseas. Condolences poured in after former foreign minister Michio Watanabe died in Tokyo aged 72. Watanabe succumbed to heart failure, his office said. AP Obituary, page 18
