Israeli Police shot dead an armed Yemenite Jew yesterday, 24 hours into a siege on a fortified compound in Yehud, where at least 15 people, including children, are believed to be holed up, Reuter reports from Jerusalem.

Rabbi Uzi Meshulam, the group's leader, was arrested as police and anti-terrorist forces moved into the compound which his cult members had fortified.
