Kabul ceasefire
Rival factions fighting in the Afghan capital agreed to a 24-hour ceasefire to allow the evacuation of diplomats and the transfer of wounded to hospitals, officials of both sides said, Reuter reports from Kabul. President Burhanuddin Rabbani has agreed to the truce from 6am today, according to the deputy foreign minister, Najibullah Lafraie.
