Kazakh leader consolidates win

Supporters of Kazakhstan's President, Nursultan Nazarbayev, won a clear majority in the former Soviet republic's first multi-party elections, Reuter reports from Alma- Ata. The Foreign Minister, Toleutai Suleimenov, said criticism of the elections as unfair was ill-informed, though he admitted some 'shortcomings' had occurred.
